🪷 Overview
Ananta Japa is a mantra counting application designed to support your daily spiritual practice. This policy explains clearly what data the app uses, where it stays, and what control you have over it.
📋 Data Stored on Your Device
All of the following is stored locally on your device only and never transmitted to us:
- Japa session history — mantra name, bead count, round count, session start/end timestamps, and your optional sankalpa (intention note).
- App preferences — selected mantra, goal target, mala type, theme (dark/light), haptics, sound, reminder time.
- Streak data — daily streak count and best streak, stored in device preferences.
- In-progress session draft — temporarily saved so you don't lose a session if you switch apps.
☁️ Optional Google Drive Backup (Premium)
If you choose to enable cloud backup, the app signs you in with Google and writes your
session history to your own Google Drive account — specifically the
private appDataFolder, which is:
- Invisible in your regular Google Drive file browser.
- Accessible only by this app — no other apps or people can read it.
- Stored under the minimal
drive.appdatascope (the most restricted Drive permission).
Google's own privacy policy governs how Drive data is handled: policies.google.com/privacy.
💳 In-App Purchases
The Premium unlock is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. The app receives only a confirmation that the purchase was made (or not). We never see or store your payment details — Google handles all of that.
🔔 Notifications & Reminders
If you enable the daily reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. This is processed entirely on-device using Android's WorkManager — no network call is made and no data leaves your phone.
🔐 Android Permissions Explained

| POST_NOTIFICATIONS | Sends the daily japa reminder notification you schedule in settings. |
| RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | Re-schedules your reminder after the device restarts so it isn't lost. |
🔗 Third-Party Services
The app uses the following Google services, each governed by Google's privacy policy:
- Google Play Billing — in-app purchase processing.
- Google Sign-In / Google Drive API — optional backup (Premium only).
The app does not include any advertising SDKs, analytics libraries, crash-reporting services, or any other third-party data-collection tools.
👶 Children's Privacy
Ananta Japa does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account registration and stores all data locally on the device.
🗑️ Data Retention & Deletion
- All local data is deleted when you uninstall the app from your device.
- If you used Google Drive backup, you can delete the backup file by disconnecting your Google account inside the app, or by removing the app's access in your Google Account permissions.
- Purchase receipts are managed by Google Play and subject to Google's retention policy.
📝 Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
